Microsoft Flight Simulator F-4 Phantom & Airbus A220 Get New Screenshots; Nashville Airport Announced
Third-party developers had news and releases of Microsoft Flight Simulator add-on to share today, including aircraft, airports, and more.
We start with DC Designs, which provided a new look at its F-4 Phantom and the cockpit of the freeware F/A-18C Hornet.
Speaking of the Phantom, animations for the control surface are being added and weathering layers are complete, albeit they have not yet been included in today’s screenshots. We’ll see them next week. The developer will focus on the smaller detail work next on top of adding the different nose and gear assembly for the F-4E. The last part of the work will be the addition of the different FGR2 Spey engine exhausts and the additional elements in the tail of the British Phantoms.
The freeware F/A-18C is “almost complete and ready for release.”
We also get a single render of the flight deck of the freeware Airbus A220 by Synaptic Simulations. This is the “improved, final iteration” and the developer has promised a livestream soon featuring the complete aircraft model and a preview of the avionics. You can follow the aircraft’s development on the dedicated Discord server.
Moving on to airports, FeelThere announced Nashville International Airport (KBNA) in the United States.
The developer promises the following features for this large airport, and you can check out a few images in the gallery.
- over 100 custom modeled buildings
- taxi bridges
- custom night lighting
- custom jetways
- complete ground polygon
PilotPlus released Swansea Airport (EGFH) in Wales, United Kingdom. While this is a smaller general aviation airport, it certainly appears to match the level of quality and detail that the developer is known for.
It’s priced at $13.16 on Orbx Direct, and it comes with the following goodies, alongside a trailer.
- A high-fidelity rendition of Swansea Airport
- Full high-resolution PBR implementation, from buildings to airside clutter and ground
- Full interior of both the control tower and cafe
- Dynamic rain on control tower glass and cafe windows
- Realistic and accurate night lighting throughout
- Latest high-resolution ground imagery
Last, but not least, Boris Audio Works released a custom sound set replacing the audio of the default Microsoft Flight Simulator Cessna 172 including both the Steam Gauges and G1000 versions. The creator is the same who made the superb sounds of the freeware A32NX mod and Honda Vision Jet among others.
It’s available on Orbx Direct and Simmarket for $16.04, including the following features.
- Dynamic engine sounds
- Wind and aerodynamic drag
- Buttons, switches, knobs, and levers
- Fuel pump
- Batteries, gyros, and avionics fans*
- Dynamic touchdowns and ground rolls*
- Stall horn with several stages changing intensity depending AOA
- And more!
The sounds marked with an asterisk are different between the two versions of the aircraft. You can enjoy a sample in the trailer below.
