Monster Hunter Rise Hunts Down 12 Million Sales

Capcom has revealed that Monster Hunter Rise, the latest installment in the long-running Monster Hunter series, has crossed another big sales milestone. The game has managed to sell 12 million units since its release on Switch back in 2021, which is pretty impressive.

This news was revealed via the official Monster Hunter Twitter account, where Capcom thanks the game’s fans for helping it to cross the new sales threshold. Thanks to fans’ “incredible support and passion”, Capcom says, “Kamura is in safe hands”. If you’ve bought Monster Hunter Rise and enjoyed it, then you have Capcom’s eternal gratitude, it seems.

These sales figures have likely been bolstered by the fact that Monster Hunter Rise arrived on PlayStation and Xbox in January. The game was also made available via Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass, but since Capcom is specifically referring to units sold, Game Pass players seemingly aren’t included in the 12 million figure.

It’s worth noting, too, that this figure doesn’t appear to include sales for the expansion, Sunbreak. Capcom releases figures for that expansion separately, so it looks like the 12 million figure only applies to the base game. Since Sunbreak hasn’t been released on PlayStation or Xbox yet, the expansion’s sales are only likely to increase in future as well.

Monster Hunter Rise is the sixth core game in the Monster Hunter series, which began in 2004 with the eponymous game. This one sees you protecting Kamura Village from The Rampage, a mysterious event that sees local monsters frenzying and attacking the village. As with other games in the series, you’ll hunt down monsters outside of Kamura, but this time, you’ll also get the chance to take part in a tower defense-style minigame in which you defend Kamura from attacking enemies.

You can pick up Monster Hunter Rise right now on PC via Steam, as well as on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation consoles, and Xbox platforms.
