This is the preview for Warhammer 40k 10th Edition Imperial Guard.
Warhammer 40k 10th Edition Imperial Guard Preview
In an official Warhammer-Community post, Games Workshop highlights the changes coming to the Warhammer 40k 10th Edition Imperial Guard. The preview starts with a new army rule for the Imperial Guard. Voice of Command allows any Officer model to issue one of six orders to certain units within range. These orders range from adding 3″ of movement to a unit, improving the characteristics of melee or ballistic weapons, temporarily improving the Save characteristic, and improving Leadership and Objective Control. Since the Imperial Guard thrive on coordinating dozens of units, this rule can allow for a lot of adaptability in a battle.
In fact, those numbers have only gotten bigger. In the unit spotlight, Games Workshop revealed that Cadian Shock Troops can now form squads of 10 or 20 models. In fact, the Catachan Jungle Fighters, Death Korps of Krieg, and classic Infantry Squads can also double up on units. In addition, several of the Imperial Guard vehicles have gotten some upgrades. The Leman Russ main cannon hits harder, and the Shadowsword’s volcano cannon has received an increase in strength while losing the Turret Weapon ability. Finally, the Baneblade tank has received some substantial upgrades. In addition to some potent changes to its defense and its destructive power, this war machine sports the Rolling Fortress ability, which lets it function as a piece of armored cover for all Guard units on the battlefield.
Finally, the preview ends with a new stratagem. The aptly named Reinforcements stratagem allows you to instantly add a new unit to your army whenever one of them is destroyed. It must be the same type of unit as the one that was destroyed. It must come from your Strategic Reserves. It enters the battlefield at its Starting Strength and with all wounds remaining. It also cannot be used to bring back Character units.
