Tekken 8 Reveals Feng Wei, New Closed Beta Test, And The Return Of Tekken Ball
Bandai Namco has announced another new addition to the Tekken 8 roster in the form of Feng Wei.
The martial artist joins other Tekken stalwarts like Raven, Nina Williams, and Jin Kazama on the roster for the fighting game, which is launching in January next year.
As you can imagine, Feng Wei is a powerful and intimidating fighter. He’s not too tough to get to grips with, but his moves are powerful nonetheless.
As well as Feng Wei, Tekken 8 is also getting a new closed beta test.
It’s taking place across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, and it’s starting on October 20th. You can register starting from today if you’re interested in trying out Tekken 8.
Several changes have been implemented since the fighting game’s last closed network test, including some pretty in-depth alterations to various systems and controls, so if you took part in the last test, you should notice some small but significant differences this time around.
The beta will include all sixteen of the previous test’s characters, plus three new ones: Raven, Azucena, and Feng Wei.
A new stage will also be available in the beta in the form of Azucena’s Ortiz Quorum stage, which is situated in Peru.
During a presentation at TGS, Bandai Namco also introduced the new Tekken 8 Fight Lounge, which works similarly to Street Fighter 6‘s Battle Hub.
You can see other players’ profiles, communicate with them, and quickly jump into matches from this hub, and you can use a variety of methods to talk to players, including chat, emotes, and stamps.
Perhaps most importantly, though, this hub will also feature a beach area where you can play the volleyball minigame Tekken Ball, which returns in Tekken 8, making its first appearance since the Wii U version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
All Tekken 8 characters will be available as part of this mode along with their full move lists, so you can use whoever you like.
Tekken 8 launches for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on January 26th.
In his Tekken 8 preview, our very own Robert Scarpinito called the game “another exciting, adrenaline-fueled entry in the series”, so if you’re already on board with Tekken, it sounds like you’re going to love this one.
